BRIDGEHAMPTON, N.Y. — A Bridgehampton man was arrested Tuesday morning after he threatened two people with a knife and damaged their vehicle, police said.
According to Southampton Police, the incident took place at 10:11 am. Police responded to a report of a dispute between two people in the road on Montauk Highway near Corwith Avenue in Bridgehampton, police said.
Brian K. Conforti, 55, had gotten into an argument with two people in a passing vehicle while walking on Montauk Highway, police said. During the fight, Conforti threatened them with a small pocket knife and then damaged their vehicle with the knife, police said.
Conforti was arrested at the scene and then transported to Southampton Town Police headquarters, where he was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor. and fourth-degree felonies, a misdemeanor, police said.
He was remanded in custody overnight to appear at Southampton Crown Court in the morning.
