SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — Applications for the federal payroll protection program have closed after benefiting more than 11.8 million businesses affected by the pandemic, including many in Southampton.The Payroll Protection Program began in April 2020 as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and was extended through May 31, 2021. North Sea, NY – A woman and her dog were injured when they were hit by a hit-and-run driver in North Sea Wednesday afternoon, police said.According to Southampton Police, the incident occurred at 4:44 p.m. on Big Fresh Pond Road. Officers said a female pedestrian walking her dog was hit by an unknown driver who fled the scene, police said.The pedestrian suffered minor injuries and was taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital for treatment, police said. SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — The Restaurant Revitalization Fund awarded more than $28.6 billion in grants to restaurants that suffered financial losses during the pandemic, including several restaurants in the Southampton area. The fund was established as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of March 2021. More than 101,000 restaurants received grants as of June 30, according to the Small Business Administration. The average grant size was $283,000. Restaurants were eligible for up to $10 million in grants, with no more than $5 million per location.
