MATTITUCK, NY — Despite concerns raised by students and parents about a reported incident at Mattituck Middle School on Thursday, the situation has been resolved and classes will resume as normal on Friday, Superintendent of Schools Shawn Petretti said.According to a parent who contacted Patch, police were called to the high school Thursday after a student caused a disturbance. Rumors swirled that she may have texted friends, saying, “Don't come to school tomorrow,” she said. The Long Island Ducks won the Atlantic League championship for the second year in a row by defeating the Somerset Patriots 6-4 on Sunday. The Ducks had won the first two games of the series before Somerset took two extra games to force a fifth and deciding game in New Jersey.Long Island won the title last year when they beat the Lancaster Barnstormers in five games. FLANDERS, N.Y. — An East Hampton man was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated in Flanders on Friday, police said.According to Southampton Police, Sergio Salazar-Domingo, 41, was pulled over at 8:53 p.m. after officers saw him fail to maintain his lane. During a traffic stop, officers learned Salazar-Dominguez was intoxicated and also operating with a revoked license, police said.His vehicle was impounded. He was arrested and charged with felony DWI, prior conviction. first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony; seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. and equipment violations, a misdemeanor, police said.
