SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Democrat Ann Welker won the Suffolk County Legislator's 2nd District seat, currently held by Bridget Fleming, by a wide margin.
According to unofficial results from the Suffolk County Board of Elections, Welker, who ran against Republican candidate Manuel Villar for the seat, won with 11,262 votes, or 61.41 percent. Vilar received 7,075, or 38.58 percent.
Suffolk County's 2nd Legislative District consists of the entire South Fork and includes the towns of Southampton and East Hampton, as well as Shelter Island and parts of Brookhaven Town's East Moriches and Eastport.
