LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — Nearly 2,000 people remain without power after Wednesday night's heavy rain and wind lashed the area, PSEG Long Island said.
Rain and “significant” winds of up to 60 mph in some areas across the service area brought down trees, branches and wires, currently affecting 1,908 of 1.2 million electricity customers in Long Island and Rockaway , according to PSEG's Long Island power outage. map at 9:39 am
As of 8 a.m., PSEG Long Island had restored power to more than 27,900 customers as of 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Breaks are scattered throughout the service area. “We expect the majority of remaining customers affected by the storm to be restored today,” PSEG Long Island said. “Crews are working in difficult conditions throughout the day Wednesday and into the night and will continue to work safely and as quickly as possible until all outages are restored.”
