HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The biopic “Oppenheimer” led the 2024 Oscars field with 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director for Christopher Nolan, and acting awards for Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt.
“Barbie,” Greta Gerwig's take on the iconic doll's story, earned eight nominations, including Best Picture, as well as acting for America Ferrera and Ryan Gosling. Gerwig and Margot Robbie were left out of the Best Director and Best Actress categories, respectively.

Fact-based drama “Killers of the Flower Moon” also shined with 10 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director for Martin Scorsese, and nominations for Lily Gladstone and Robert De Niro. Gladstone is the the first Native American to be nominated for Best Actress in the history of the Oscars. Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio was left out of the Best Actor slot.
The nominations for the 96th Academy Awards were revealed Tuesday morning by Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid, ahead of a ceremony Sunday, March 10 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles and a coast-to-coast telecast live on ABC at 4 p.m. PT (7 p.m. ET). Jimmy Kimmel will return as host for a fourth time after previous stints in 2017, 2018 and 2023.
