WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Police are investigating a string of break-ins at four popular local restaurants in Hampton Bays and Westhampton over the past week.
According to Southampton Police, on Thursday at approximately 2:22 a.m., an alarm was raised at Cowfish, located on East Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays. Patrol officers responded and found the doors had been damaged after someone forced their way in, also breaking a lock, police said.
No known proceeds were made during the incident, police said.
Then, at about 3:37 a.m., an additional alarm went off at Rumba, located on Canoe Place Road in Hampton Bays, police said. When officers responded, they found a broken side door window. It did not appear that anyone had entered the restaurant, police said.
Patrol officers searching the area because of the incidents also found the front door open and damaged at Buckley's, located on West Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays, at 3:58 a.m., police said. An unknown man had entered the restaurant. There was also no known proceeds from this incident, police said.
Later that morning, at 8:25 a.m. a burglary was reported at Buoy One, located on Montauk Highway in Westhampton, police said. Someone entered the business and took cash as well as a bottle of tequila, police said.
