SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Students will welcome a new assistant principal at Southampton High School this semester.
Irini Navas will take over the position from August 22, district officials said.
Navas most recently served as the coordinator of Native American education, student services and liaison for the Center Moriches School District, a position she has held since 2014. She joined the Center Moriches School District in 2005, working as a Sabbath Academy teacher and as an academic invention educator prior to her administrative role.
The Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nicholas J. Dyno welcomed Navas: “We are truly excited to have Ms. Navas join our high school team. Her many years of experience in connecting with students and increasing opportunities for all make her an ideal fit for Southampton High School.”
Navas holds a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies/Elementary Education from SUNY Old Westbury. He received his Master of Education from Grand Canyon University in Arizona. He also holds an advanced degree in educational leadership from Stony Brook University, district officials said.
“I am honored to join the Mariner family as assistant principal at Southampton High School,” Navas said. “I look forward to forging relationships with all stakeholders and supporting our students to have the best high school experience.”
