SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — A bomb threat was reported at Southampton Town Court Thursday morning, police said.
According to Southampton Police, officers responded at approximately 7:52 a.m. in the magistrates' court, about emails sent to the court about a bomb threat. A search of the courthouse and the surrounding area was carried out by Southampton police patrol cars, Southampton fire and police officers and police officers, and nothing suspicious was found, police said.
The New York State Trooper K-9 Unit responded to conduct an additional search of the property and building, finding no threat, police said.
A preliminary forensic investigation has determined that the email may have originated overseas and does not have a reliable connection to the court at this time, police said.
Detectives will continue to investigate.
