MATTITUCK, NY — It was a proud moment recently as 30 Mattituck High School students were inducted into the National Honor Society.
On March 19, students, families, staff and Superintendent of Schools Shawn Petretti gathered to honor the 30 students who had demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, district officials said.
“Congratulations to these amazing students who have demonstrated all the qualities and characteristics required to become members of this prestigious honor society,” Petretti said. “We are proud of your achievements and I am confident that you will continue to succeed and lead.”
In her address to the inductees, National Honor Society President and Class of 2024 valedictorian Jolin Chen welcomed the new inductees to the chapter, which began in 1950, and emphasized the importance of leadership, service, scholarship and character as students continued a long MHS tradition. The students also invited English teacher Ms. Anne Gilvary to be the guest speaker.
