SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — A sailboat ran aground in the Hamptons on Tuesday night, police said.
According to Southampton Police, the incident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. Southampton Bay Police Department, as well as the United States Coast Guard and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police responded to a 911 call.
A 30-foot sailboat crashed into the Shinnecock East Pier on the Atlantic Ocean side in front of Shinnecock East County Park, police said.

Upon arrival, the boat's captain had exited the boat to land and was not reported to be injured, police said. There were no other people on board, police said.
