SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — Two people were injured in a crash in Southampton on Tuesday, fire officials said.
According to Chris Brenner, public information officer for the Southampton Fire Department, the crash happened at 1:15 p.m. at Montauk Highway and St. Andrews at Shinnecock Hills. Fire officials said there was entrapment and both vehicles were heavily damaged.
Two people were injured, Brenner said. Both patients were treated at the scene by Southampton Volunteer Ambulance and then taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

The road was closed from Tuckahoe Lane to Tuckahoe Road, Brenner said. Southampton Fire Police diverted traffic. Crews were at the scene to deal with liquids on the road surface from both vehicles.
Chief Manny Escobar was at the helm of the Southampton Fire Department, and Chief Ian King took over leadership of the Southampton Volunteer Ambulance, Brenner said.
