“In an age of technological innovation, restaurants are delivering the human experience diners crave—listening to their customers and delivering a personalized experience,” said Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher of Wine Spectator. “This annual issue celebrates the places where wine is at the forefront of this conversation. I am delighted to congratulate all 3,505 restaurants for their dedication to wine and wine lovers.”
The Restaurant Awards, which began in 1981, represent the only program in the world focused solely on wine service in restaurants, Wine Spectator said.
The awards are presented at three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award, with 2,001. 1,411; and 93 winners this year in each respective category.
Featured in the special issue of Wine Spectator's Restaurant Awards — a favorable forecast for restaurants — is how today's restaurants are staffing, revamping their menus and creatively augmenting their wine offerings to attract their customers. The Restaurant Awards issue, which features chef and restaurateur Thomas Keller on the cover, became available to readers on Tuesday.
